3 Cups Flour- Somehow as a child, the process of cooking with me was a hassle. I hardly got the opportunity because of the fact I always managed to make a mess. The flour would some how end up all over the table, the floor, my face or my clothes.
1 1/2 Cups Butter Softened- My parents always knew culinary school was not in my future becasue I could never seem to get the butter softened. Only melted which made the cooking process much more difficult then it had to be.
2 1/4 Cups of Sugar- That is a whole lot of sugar for a young and hyper child to have, which is why cake was very rare to me as a kid.
5 Large Eggs- Even as a teenager, I refuse to crack eggs. The goo and slimy feeling always ends up on my hands one way or another. I hate the feeling so the cracking of the eggs was always left to my mother. I loved to watch her hands crack the egg against the side of the bowl. She did it so smothly and I never understood how, even to this day.
1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract- The smell is delecious, but the taste is repulsive. I know from experence and after trying it, I no longer had the erge to taste it again. Smell can be deciving.
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder- By this point in the baking process, I was mostlikely losing interest because I had the attention span of a fly.
1/4 Teaspoon of Salt- Once while cooking with my grandma and cousin, we mixed up salt and sugar. I think you can imagine of how that cake tasted.
1 1/2 Cups of Brown Sugar- As if 2 1/4 cups od sugar wasn't enough. Brown sugar was my favorite ingredient of all because of the sweet taste. I would love to eat is plain which looking back now, is pretty nasty. As a child, I didn't seem to care.
2 Cans of Sliced Pinapple ( Drained) - Fruit in a cake?! I never liked the idea of fruit as a dessert but pinapple upsidedown cake was an exception.
Cherries Drained- My favorite part was picking off the stems of cherries and trying to tie the stems in my mouth. I never succeeded but I loved to try. It was always very exciting when my uncle could.
