Photo Prompts

If I had to play any board game in real life, I would have to choose candy land. I would choose candy land because I love candy. but yet again, who doesn't? I would love to meet Queen Frostine. When I was a kid and I would play candyland, I always thought that her sectoin of the game board was the coolest. I would love to climb gumdrop mountian and go through candy cane forrest. I would eat all of the candy that I saw and meet all of the chararcters along the way. And most importantly, I would try to get to the finish line first.

http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Schenectady-teen-shot-in-leg-3591065.php

On Monday May 28th, a teenager was shot in the leg "while in the area of Strong and Schenectady streets". He was oly 17 years of age and thanfully, the article says that "his wounds were not considered life-threatening". He was taken to a nearby hospital and then he was "transported ... eventually to Albany Medical Care". Earlier in the month, there was a shooting at a place called Harmony Hall and the shooting is under investigation to see if it is related. So far, the "police said they do not know if the shooting is related". It is scary to think that this boy is only a few years older then I am and lives in an area close to where I am living. You must be more careful on the streets these days.

28.Why are national holidays like Memorial day important?

Why are national holidays like Memorial day important?
Memorial day is important because it is crucial that we remember all of the people that fought in the war. My grandpa fought in a war when he was alive. Memorial day is the day to remember all of the people that have died from fighting in tthe wars. It used to be called decoration day because the family members would decorate the graves of the people that died. Other national holidays like vetererns day is important also becasue that remembers all of the people that fought in the wars also. They risk their lives in order to save our country and theses are the days where they are remembered.

Conversation Starters

Vacation Questions
  • Where was the last place you went on vacation? San Antonio Texas with my younger cousin Kayla. We flew alone to visit out aunt, uncle, and two little cousins.
  • Where do you plan on going for your next vacation? I am going to Cape Cod over the summer with my parents and cousins. I am also going on a cruise in Febuary of 2013 with my whole entire family.
  • If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? I would live in San Antonio Texas with mu aunt and uncle. My aunt is like my bestfriend, my uncle is so funny and we like to mess around and my two little cousins, Kyle and Kady are like my little siblings.
  • What countries have you traveled to? I have only been to Canada when I was very little, but when I go on the cruise in Febuary, I will be visiting many countries for the first time.
  • What was your worst vacation experience? My worst vacation was when I was about 3 years old. It was my first time on a plane and I don't remeber it very well. I was going to visit my grandma and grandpa who were spending the winter there. We had a layover in Atlanta, Georgia and when I got on the second plane, I was screaming and crying. I threw a fit. I would not tell anyone why I didn't want to fly again so they kicked me off. My family was really mad and we had to drive back home. They were scared that if we drove to Flordia, I would not get on the plane ride home. It was not until we got home that I told my parents I didn't want to get on becasue it made my ears hurt when they popped. They were very angry.

    34. Should the alcoholic drinking age be increased or decreased

The drinking alcohol age is 21 at the moment. I believe that the alcoholic drinking age should be lowered to the age of 18 for many reasons.

    1. People that are 18 are able to fight in wars. They risk their lives to fight for our country but are not able to drink a casual wine at dinner or a beer with their buds? That seems very unfair to me.
    2. At the age of 18 people are allowed to vote and make decessions that effect our country greatly. Why does the government trust 18 year olds to make huge decessions but not to drink? 18 year olds can make adult decessions but can not be treated as an adult.
    3. I think that people who are told they are not allowed to do something, feel that rebeling is fun. People at young ages drink secertly which causes more damage to theri bodies.
    4. The forth reason that the drinking age should be lowered to 18 is becasue if someone were to drink underage too much, they are hesitant on going to the hospital becasue they will get in trouble. People need to be taken care of proberly if they become too intoxicated and not getting treated could lead to injery or death.

    TU Tuesday- Commencement Speech

    http://www.news.wisc.edu/8682
    http://www.graduationwisdom.com/speeches/topten.htm
Jerry Zucker was a student at Unversity of Wisconsin. He claims that he was just an average student and that "not one teacher I ever had in grade school, high school or college would've believed that there was even the slightest chance that one day I would be asked to give the commencement address at a major university". Jerry many have been pretty average but he is very wise and had some very good points in his speech.
One thing that Jerry said was that "I work in a business where almost everyone is waiting for the next big thing. Sometimes it comes, and sometimes it doesn't. But it doesn't matter that your dream came true if you spent your whole life sleeping. So get out there and go for it, but don't be caught waiting". Jerry was trying to say that you shouldn't worry about the future and plan out your future. You need to worry about the present time and dream for the future, but make sure not to get too caught up in your dreams. Another thing that Jerry said was that "Don't do anything that 30 years from now you'll look back at and say, 'Oh, my God, why the hell did I do that?!' ". I think that is also a good point because you hear that on a daily basis. People are always worrying about the past and the misatkes you've made. I think that Jerry was very into the belief that you need to focus on now to live your life to the fullest. Not the past of the future. You need to move on.
Jerry also mentioned that  "If you're going to fail, fail big. If you don't, you're never going to make a difference." I think that is a good point. I think that Jerry believes that if you are going to do something, you should do it to the best of your ability and not do what others expect from you. Jerry had some very good points in his commencement speech.
Jerry is very famous for his saying " Ask yourself one question: If I didn't have to do it perfectly, what would I try?" Jerry's speech was second in the top commencement speeched list after Steve Jobs. I think that Jerry Zucker is a very wise man.
